We had a busy holiday season between bringing Hope and Happiness through the annual Saint Elizabeth Foundation campaign, and extra funding available for special projects through the SE Health 115th Anniversary Fund. This year the Foundation distributed nearly 10,000 socks and handwarmers through service delivery centres (SDCs) nationwide to help people in need. Additional 115 projects ranged from donations of foodstuffs, personal and household goods, and other necessities.
The Ottawa-Champlain SDC made sure the holidays were fun for the children they care for in the community. Our SE Health team of clinical care providers support many children with physical and developmental disabilities, supporting them at school and in their activities of daily living. this year, kids were gifted fuzzy socks and handwarmers bringing lots of warmth and smiles!
Creative ways to share joy this season were also at the forefront of our Research Centre’s holiday agenda, led by new hire, Paige. As a Rotarian, she teamed up with Rotary members from the Toronto Leaside Rotary Club & East York Rotary Club for their purse/backpack campaign. They assembled parcels that included warm socks & hand warmers along with other goodies that were then delivered for distribution at Yellow Brick House, Abiona Centre & WoodGreen Community Services.
The Erie St. Clair SDC also embraced the holiday spirit with their annual “Santa Ride” distributing socks, handwarmers, and other warm essentials with a group of volunteers on bikes! What a fun way to highlight the SE spirit.
