First Nations, Inuit and Métis End-of-Life Care Program
Providing end-of-life advisory support and education for Indigenous communities across Canada.
Providing end-of-life advisory support and education for Indigenous communities across Canada.
Through extensive collaboration with Indigenous communities, we offer strengths-based and culturally safe approaches to care for individuals with complex needs. This is achieved by drawing on our long experience in palliative care and building upon community strengths.
We collaborate with Indigenous communities to implement creative solutions that address complex issues related to access to care. People living in First Nations communities face challenges and barriers accessing health care services. In the North, two-thirds of residents must travel more than 90 km to see a primary care provider. Community-based health care providers also face geographical challenges in accessing training to build on their skills and knowledge.
The Saint Elizabeth Foundation supports end-of-life solutions for Indigenous peoples, offering advisory support and continuing education to healthcare professionals who are caring for patients and their loved ones in community settings.
