Volunteer Services

Help bring hope and happiness to patients, caregivers and people in need.

You Can Make a Difference

If you would like to make a difference in the lives of people who need it most, there are many ways you can help. Giving selflessly of their time and skills in a wide variety of roles, volunteers have donated more than 15,000 hours since 2018.

Hospice Volunteer Program

At Journey Home Hospice, volunteers bring caring kindness and helping hands to create a home-like atmosphere when it is most needed. Companion volunteers are needed in Toronto and Windsor to provide social interaction, accompany patients on outings, play games and more. Toronto kitchen volunteers help to prepare daily meals, snacks, and treats, shop for groceries, meal plan and more. Reception volunteers in Toronto welcome visitors, accept deliveries, and help with administrative tasks and other vital services to keep the hospice welcoming for all. Join our team today!

Community Volunteer Program

Existing health and home care services don’t provide the level of support needed to allow many of Canada’s older adults to age at home. Our community volunteers help to fill this gap, making friendly visits that ease isolation and loneliness, provide caregiver respite, and assist with basic household functions such as preparing lunch or light housekeeping. Interested in volunteering from home? Check out our Friendly Phone Calls program that provides social interaction, listening, and emotional support from the comforts of home Canada-wide.

Foundation Ambassador Program

Foundation Ambassadors are SE Health team members engaged in our charitable mission supporting end-of-life journeys for people most in need. They share information about programs and services in their home communities through annual events like the Hope & Happiness Holiday Campaign and Saint Elizabeth Walk.

SE Alumni Program

The SE Alumni Program invites former SE Health and Foundation team members to remain meaningfully connected to our social impact goals and charitable mission. Alumni act as ambassadors in their home communities, helping to raise awareness about ongoing programs and services as well as supporting fundraising efforts to sustain our work.
